I had been eyeing our good friend Michelle Cordova's herd for a while, watching as she quietly dominated South Texas showrings with her beautifully correct does. We have a joke between us about my trepidation towards loudly colored nubians as it interferes with my OCD over color uniformity - if you notice, much of my nubian herd is red roan, the lamanchas are overwhelmingly black & tan and then there are our toggs who are blissfully cookie cutter "brown with correct white markings". In a nutshell, I am weird.
So, when "Don't Be Cruel" arrived and Michelle messaged me a few pictures telling me I needed this jazzy boy to spice up the herd - he had better be "something special" in order for me to venture a little more into spots. He certainly is, and joined the Tule Creek sire roster in the summer of 2021.
Elvis is maturing as expected. He excels in dairy strength, exhibiting tremendous bone and width throughout. He sits on correct feet and legs with a broad deep muzzle that is required to stand at stud here. I am impressed with his gentle, quiet demeanor and loving personality. He was a bit too immature to cover our large, mature does this fall so we look forward to using him heavily next fall.
